RAWALPINDI, Oct 11 (APP): Pakistan and United Arab Emirates have reiterated their desire to further enhance and expand bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, economy and defence for mutual benefits of the two brotherly countries. This was discussed at a meeting between Federal Minister for Defence Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar and the ambassador of United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, Ali Saif Sultan Al-Awani, who called on him here Saturday.
The Minister told the envoy that Pakistan attached great importance to its ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the two brotherly countries share similar culture and religion, besides having a commonality of perceptions on regional and international issues.
The Minster said that Pakistan was sincerely grateful to UAE which has always been cooperative and extended active support to Pakistan in difficult times.
The meeting noted that there existed a vast scope of cooperation between the two sides and new avenues needed to be explored to further promote trade and economic ties.
The meeting also underscored the need for promoting unity and closer cooperation among Islamic countries, so as to overcome the current challenges being confronted by the Muslim Ummah. |
