ISLAMABAD, Oct 7 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday called PML (N) chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif by telephone and talked about the upcoming joint session of the Parliament to be held on Wednesday (Oct 8). Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, while accepting the invitation of the Prime Minister to attend the upcoming joint session of the parliament, specially called for in camera briefing on the law and order situation in the country, commended the Prime Minister for taking such steps.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said that Parliament is the only forum where all the national as well as international issues concerning Pakistan should be discussed and calling of the joint session of the parliament is the right step towards ensuring supremacy of the parliament.
In response to this the Prime Minister said “the summoning of joint session was the desire of yours which has been implemented by the coalition government.”
This reflects that all the democratic forces i.e. PPP and the PML (N) and allies of the government are the staunch believer in promoting democracy and strengthening of democratic institutions in the country, he added.
Mian Nawaz Sharif extended his full support to the government for strengthening parliamentary democracy, supremacy of the parliament and democratic norms in the country.
The Prime Minister thanked Mian Nawaz Sharif for accepting his invitation to attend the forthcoming joint session of the parliament.
He further said that it would be a step forward in taking the parliamentarians into confidence on all the important issues confronting Pakistan and it augurs well for the future of the country.
